Mary Colburn-Green
A huge animal lover, Mary Colburn-Green has always had dogs, both purebreds and rescues. She currently lives with five Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that she spoils, writes about, and shows.
In 2017 her charming portrayal of the breed, Cavaliers and Friends: My Two Favorite Things was published by Blue Dragon Publishing in the US. The beautiful, limited-edition, coffee table book was acclaimed by readers and endorsed by organizations devoted to the breed.
Mary considers herself a citizen of the world for her life has been enriched by living and working in many cultures. Holding US and Canadian citizenship, she and her husband of 40 years have split their time during the last decade between homes in Canada, France, and Spain, while also traveling on business. Mary grew up as a US military dependent, studied Cultural Anthropology at UC-Berkeley in California, pursued an MBA, and has owned an international strategic marketing consultancy for 35 years www.marketingsolutions-us.com. As a result, she has lived in the US, Canada, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.
Now Mary is dedicating the final chapter of her life to improving the Cavalier breed through writing books, supporting rescue and health-research, and breeding healthy dogs. Many of the 7000 worldwide Cavalier owners and breeders who are “friends” on Facebook contribute photographs and stories for her books.
Mary and her fur babies live in a quaint winemakers’ village in the Languedoc-Roussillon Region of Southern France, an hour north of Spain. They reside in a 200-year old stone wine maker’s house and the adjacent wine “cave” they renovated.
States the author, “The easy-going lifestyle of Southern France not to mention the serenity of our village are good for raising dogs and creative pursuits.”
