The City of Lost Fortunes Book Review

The City of Lost Fortunes

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Bryan Camp did a great job weaving together many different spiritualistic beliefs in a way that was entertaining and educational (in a fun way). The dialogue was realistic and catchy. Hard to believe this is his first book. I look forward to reading more of his work.

Have you joined Goodreads reading challenge? It doesn’t cost anything and you don’t win anything–except for the fact that you are READING! Which is always a win in my book. I have extra incentive because I have vowed to read every book I picked up at the American Library Association Conference in April. I want to ensure those giveaways were well deserved.

To be a good writer, you need to read. I’ve said this before and I will keep repeating myself. By reading, you pick up on things you like and don’t like. Your vocabulary grows and is inspired by words other authors use. You can see what works for a plot twist or you see through things that are too obvious and come up with better ways to handle it.

What do you like to read? Are they the same types of books you like to write? I read and write mysteries. My favorite books to read are fantasies–specifically with dragons. I haven’t been able to conjure up my own dragon story though. Maybe that’s okay. I need to leave something for pure enjoyment that doesn’t tie back to work.

Here’s a back to school assignment for you: Go read a good book…for fun!
